FTL?

February 24th, 2007 by JrMint

I’ve often had conversations with Eris about science and technology as it relates to “what if Einstein was wrong?” He may very well have been. At which point shatters a large amount of our understanding of why things really work the way they do. The trouble with “Standing on the shoulders of Giants”

I spend some of my side time studying and trying to comprehend Quantum Computing technology, to do that you have to read a lot on quantum in general..not easy stuff. Something I read this last week in wired magazine made me want to post about this. Might want to rethink some of that Einstein that we so readily base everything we currently know, upon.

There’s a state that sub-atomic particles can get into called “Entagled”. This means the fate of one instantly effects the other particle, no matter how far apart they are.

A number of years back scientists seperated a pair of “entagled” photons by shooting them down a pair of fiber-optic cables. Each cable ran to a different village, the villages were 6 miles apart.

Tipping one into a particular quantum state forced the other into the opposite state less then five-trillionths of a second later…or…nearly 7 million times faster then light could travel between the two.

Now of course according to relativity, nothing travels faster then the sped of light, not even information between particles.

I think Gene Roddenberry was on to something…FTL, ya it appears it already exists. Sorry Albert, at least relativity is only a theory.

EST sucks

In Atlanta this week…and there was much rejoicing. Man, EST sucks.

Google called me again out of nowhere, so thats pretty cool. Smoked through the pre-screen. Have an actual phone interview for this new job tonight with one of the managers. Be interesting to see how that goes since its a different job then the previous one I interviewed for.

Someone linked me this and it made me laugh. Maybe it explains that science really isn’t a religion. LOL

Apache Lotus

February 12th, 2007 by JrMint

This is just cool.  I mean the cars sweet and all, but I want the Apache.   Fifth gear challenges and Apache helicopter which has one of the most sophisticated radar systems on the planet to try to get a “missile lock” on the Lotus Exige.

Cool stuff.   The first 3 minutes is just about the car, which is most impressive, but if you go to 3:20 minutes in they bring in the Apache helicopter part.

FOX This

February 6th, 2007 by JrMint

I found it absolutely amazing that you can take every quotation on this page and replace Newspaper/Journalism with FOX News and the quotation is still deadly accurate and even more so relevant to the 21st century.

This came to me as I read a quote from one of my favorite poeple Thomas Jefferson and thought, wow thats FOX.

“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”Thomas Jefferson

I was really on my way to find this quote for some other reason I can’t now remember when I got side tracked by FOX.

But there it is anyway:

“Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.”Thomas Jefferson
