Remodel is going well, actually moved faster so far then I ever thought I would. I used this last weekend really well and got a lot done.
Framing work is mostly done, the big safe is now walled into its new home, just waiting for drywall work.
The computer cabinet is framed into the north wall and the sides/top/bottom are all installed. The killer fan panels i ordered for it arrived in the mail, so i need to get those installed so I can then work on insulating and sound proofing it.
I also got the steel door installed and framed into the retaining wall. Decided to do myself and it was much easier then i thought. I was just a bit nervous cutting into a major second floor retaining wall, but a contractor I know re-assured me I could easily do it myself rather then pay someone…he was right. Door has a digital combination deadbolt lock on it which is extra cool.
I need someone to cut me some steel pieces i can shim into the door frame so the dead bolt drops through more steel, probably have to do that before drywalling.
Tonight I was able to hammer out a bunch of the electrical work. All the outlets in the room for UPS power are wired back to the computer cabinet where 1 of the 2 UPS is, and all the outlets on non-ups commercial power are wired to where they will terminate to the circuit i’m pulling in. Still have to wire all the lighting and switches in the room. Then lastly pull the 3 new circuits into the room from the panel.
The relay rack gear showed up, but was missing a few parts so I called monoprice and they were all over it, parts in the mail. That’ll let me get that installed into the computer cabinet.
Also have to pull all the network and A/V lines. I’m also wiring HDMI and component video runs as well as audio from the computer cabinet (where the HD DVR and BR player will be) back to where my new 36″ LCD HD Panel will be wall mounted above my desk and my Mackie mixer which terminates all the audio sources in my office….bitchin camaro.
Most of that is not a lot of hours of work, then I can actually get the drywall in and done (PITA). Post that it will be insulation work, texture and paint and then the part i’m not looking so forward to (mostly because I’ve never done it) is the new drop ceiling installation…meh.
I am however twice as far along as I expected to be. I’m going to lose this upcoming weekend however since its hunting weekend, so I’ll be out in the woods for a few days. Hopefully the weekend after I can really hammer it. I do get some done during the weeknights but not that much.
I have a crap load of pictures, i just haven’t had time to upload them. I should do that as i go along, it would be easier for all of us. LOL
Anyway, just a quick update since I’ve been asked by several people how the remodel was going. I’m very happy thus far with my progress.
