10 and counting…

May 27th, 2008 by JrMint

Had a great weekend over memorial day. We headed down to the acreage in SouthWestern oregon where we hunt every year. My father-in-law is living down there these days. They have a big ordeal every memorial day at the family cementary thats on one of the plots they own, pretty crazy, family back into the 1800′s buried in there.

Anyway hauled the ATV down and had a blast with it. Ethan and I drove it all over the 400+ acres and hills, even took both kids (keira smashed between me and ethan) for a couple rides. Soon as I get the pictures off the camera I’ll post them. Speaking of the camera, it got sand in it, so the little automatic lense is stuck in the out position and it makes horendous noises when it turns on (and immediately shuts itself back off). Guess I’ll haul it in somewhere, probably way too many tiny moving parts of me to mess with it.

So I get back from a weekend of fun and crazy ATV off-roading (ouch I’m sore) and have to go straight to my next personal trainer appointment monday evening. Of course he put me through the paces. I trust him to know best and he knew when I had to quit…which was WELL past when I felt like I should. When I left I literally had a hard time standing and was somewhat unbalanced. Some serious workout. This one was for cardio and upper body muscle building (previous was legs and calves).

He had built a little mini-circuit of “events” i had to run each station for 1 minute…it was brutal. Running ladders, sitting squats with weights, lateral walking with weights, jump rope and push ups. Had to run it twice with only 1.5 minute break in between the two runs. Then straight over to cardio where I did various things on the rowing machine and an upper arm working machine. He was going to finish me off by repeating the stations again, but I think he knew it would kill me, so he had me do some SMR and pass out in my car.

I would never have pushed myself that hard, I guess thats why you have a trainer. Although I’m pretty sore today, I actually feel pretty good and have a lot of energy. I have another session tomorrow (not sure what it will cover) then not again until Sunday. I’ll probably hit the Gym friday or something to do my own cardio workout…if I can still stand after tomorrow.

SMR (Self Myofascia Release) is some pretty cool shit. It really helps when muscles get cramped up or charlie horse, I’ve been trying to do it the way he showed me everytime I go in, even if I’m not meeting my Trainer. It hurts like hell the first few times but after that its not so bad and really loosens you up. Its been claimed to have solved lots of muscle problems with both paralysis and damaged muscle areas.

Okay thats the workout update. Weighed in at 210.1 today. Thats down over 10 pounds in 2 weeks, so i’m quite happy. My current goal with my trainer is 192 by mid july. The diet is definitely helping out…I’m on a pretty regular 6 small meals a day and I keep it right at my 33 weight watchers points. I don’t feel hungry all the time and I’m eating stuff that I like so that doesn’t make me grumpy like most peoples diets do. Also doing 64-96oz of water a day. Shit I feel better then I have in a long time…..so I guess as long as this doesn’t kill me or I give up I should be doing great in month or so. Here’s to no early cardiac arrest!

Dude, TEN POUNDS — that kicks so much ass. Honestly, as hard as he’s working you, you’ve dropped more than that in fat. In rebound muscle alone, you’ve probably lost 12.5 lbs of fat and and slapped 2.5 lbs of lean muscle mass back on.

You checking out your body fat at any point alongside this weight loss? It’s kind of a trip to graph them side-by-side.

My wife has this uber scale that caluclates BMI and stuff via an electrical current while you stand on it. So its been tracking it but haven’t paid attention to it yet. The trainer also did my BMI with a manual caliper tool thing, but he hasn’t redone it since I started. I’m curious as to its change as well.

I need SNMP built into myself so have automatic graphs…
